Iemand aan Engelstalig hof die altijd ziek is (behalve trouwens zondag).?

Posted on August 6, 2024 by Pulse

In the bustling city of London, there was a person who was always sick, except on Sundays. This individual, who we will refer to as “John,” was a regular at the English court, where he worked as a servant to the nobility.

John’s colleagues at the court often marveled at his ability to soldier on despite his constant illnesses. It seemed that every day he would come to work with a new ailment – a headache, a cough, a stomachache – you name it, John had experienced it. But come Sunday, he would miraculously be back to his old self, full of energy and vigor.

Many at the court speculated about the reason behind John’s mysterious bouts of illness. Some believed that he was feigning his sickness to garner sympathy and avoid work, while others thought that he suffered from a chronic condition that only affected him during the week.

Despite his frequent absences due to illness, John was a loyal and hardworking servant. He never complained about his health, and always fulfilled his duties to the best of his ability. His dedication did not go unnoticed by the nobility, who appreciated his loyalty and commitment.

One day, a wise old healer visited the court and took an interest in John’s condition. After examining him, the healer concluded that John’s ailments were not physical, but rather a manifestation of stress and anxiety. The healer recommended that John take Sundays off to relax and rejuvenate, in order to prevent his illnesses from flaring up during the week.

Following the healer’s advice, John began taking Sundays off to rest and recuperate. Slowly but surely, his health improved, and his colleagues noticed a marked difference in his demeanor and energy levels. It seemed that the healer’s diagnosis had been spot on – John’s illnesses were indeed linked to stress and overwork.

From that day on, John made sure to prioritize self-care and relaxation, taking Sundays as a day of rest and rejuvenation. His health continued to improve, and soon enough, he was no longer the sickly servant of the English court, but a healthy and vibrant individual who was able to fulfill his duties with ease.

John’s story serves as a reminder that sometimes, our physical ailments are not just a result of our bodies, but also of our minds. By taking the time to care for ourselves and prioritize our well-being, we can overcome even the most persistent of illnesses. And who knows, maybe a day of rest and relaxation, like John’s Sunday routine, is all we need to heal and thrive.
