Averecht – gerstekorrel – kantsteek.? puzzel?

Posted on November 5, 2024 by Pulse

Averecht, gerstekorrel, and kantsteek are three common knitting stitches that are used to create beautiful and intricate patterns in knitted garments. These stitches are often used in combination with other stitches to create texture and visual interest in a project.

Averecht, also known as the purl stitch, is a basic knitting stitch that creates a bumpy texture on the right side of the fabric. To work an averecht stitch, you simply insert your needle into the front of the stitch from right to left, wrap the yarn around the needle, and pull it through the stitch. This creates a loop on your right needle, which you then slide off the left needle. Averecht stitches are commonly used in combination with recht stitches (knit stitches) to create ribbing, seed stitch, and other interesting patterns.

Gerstekorrel, or seed stitch, is a simple stitch pattern that alternates between knit and purl stitches on every row. To work a gerstekorrel stitch, you simply knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches. This creates a bumpy texture that resembles the seeds of a plant, hence the name seed stitch. Gerstekorrel is often used as an edging or border stitch, or as an allover pattern for added texture.

Kantsteek, or selvedge stitch, is a simple stitch that is used to create a neat and finished edge on a knitted garment. To work a kantsteek stitch, you simply knit the first and last stitch of every row, regardless of the pattern you are working in. This creates a smooth and even edge that makes it easier to seam pieces together or pick up stitches for a collar or button band.

In knitting patterns, these stitches are often used in combination with other stitches to create intricate designs and patterns. For example, you might see a pattern that calls for a combination of averecht and recht stitches to create a ribbed texture, or a pattern that uses gerstekorrel stitches to create a border around a lace panel. By mastering these basic stitches, knitters can create a wide variety of beautiful and unique projects.

So, the next time you pick up your knitting needles, try incorporating some averecht, gerstekorrel, and kantsteek stitches into your project to add texture and visual interest. You’ll be amazed at the beautiful patterns you can create with just a few simple stitches!
